Requirements for International Travel

Requirements vary widely depending on the country you’re travelling to. We recommend contacting the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) as early as possible to figure out what’s needed if you are travelling to a country other than the United States of America.

In some cases, blood tests or additional vaccines are required. Sometimes these must be done on a particular schedule (with months in between). It's best to start early when planning a trip.

Requirements for Dogs to Travel to the USA

If your pet has not left Canada for the past 6 months, these are the requirements for travel to the USA:

  • Dogs must appear healthy upon arrival
  • Dogs must be at least 6 months old at the time of entry
  • Dogs must have a microchip that can be detected with a universal scanner to identify them
  • A CDC import form must be filled out prior to arrival
